The Fun Football experience is filled with new and exciting challenges for both new and experienced players. Players are provided with more game-specific activities, which offer fun and excitement throughout the season to help lay physical and technical foundations for physical literacy. Generally, children at this age are enthusiastic, motivated and have the desire to be active. We provide them with lots of variation and create environments where they can explore new things through playing. A fun and motivational coaching and playing environment is provided to meet the wants and needs of the developing 7-8-year-old child. In these grades we offer our members a programme based on the 4 school terms. You may register your child for any of the terms you like at any time during the term and pay ONLY for the remaining of the programme when you join.
Our programmes are run by our Coaches and assisted by Youth players and Volunteer Parent Coaches, all overseen by our Director of Football – Tsetso.
We run two sessions year-round.
Training Session – at each training players are divided into small groups by the coaches. This programme is based on the FUNdamentals of Football. In every training we focus on FUN games which develop some of the basic motor skills such as running, jumping, and change of direction, alongside dribbling and shooting games. There is also a set of 1v1 and 2v2 activities and small-sided Games designed to boost the confidence of the young Footballers.
Game Day – Here players are divided into groups between 16-20 players at the beginning of each term. This programme purely focuses on the Game. After a short warm-up mainly with balls, we use a few different game activities to put the players in situations where they have Fun, but they will also get challenged and forced to make their own football decisions. At the end of every game day in the last game we play “Golden Goal” – which means regardless of the score whichever team scores the “Golden Goal” – wins the game and more importantly, the Goal scorer is the “Superhero”.
If it’s raining
If we need to cancel training or a game day due to bad weather, we will update our Facebook page 2 hours prior the event. Normally with light rain we let the session go ahead (unless parks are closed by CCC)
How to best support your child and their team
The best way to help your child is to
What Your Child Will Need
Loss of Interest
Kids will occasionally lose interest and not want to take part. This is OK; it happens to all of us at some stage. If this does occur let them come back in their own time.
Slipped Halos
Every now and again kids will become upset and disruptive. If this does occur the coach will intervene to address the behaviour, as a parent we would ask you to support your coach’s actions.
Coaching or Managing a Team
We are always on the lookout for new team coaches and managers. FC Twenty 11 has been going through a sustained period of growth over the last few years. The biggest strain that this puts on us is in the area of finding enough coaches or managers and once we have done that, ensuring that they are adequately prepared. Some of our coaches/managers are parents who may never have played football before. To support these dedicated volunteers, we do and will continue to run, both in-house and external coaching courses. Our Director of Football, Tsetso, is available to support and resource coaches. If you are a parent or past player who has flirted with the idea of coaching a team – please give it a try! It is a truly rewarding experience.
