Girls Football

Girls Football

Women’s football in New Zealand is on the rise, with continued growth year on year, helped by the recent Women’s World Cup.

NZ Football Girls Framework Objectives

FC Twenty 11 is committed to the supporting and growing female football at all ages and all levels (Club or Development).

We offer an environment that is safe, where individuals are able to grow and develop alongside their peers with the support of their coaches, and hopefully create long-lasting friendships.

If you daughter is interested in playing football she has choices, namely:

 1. Play in a mixed (girls and boys) team – see Junior or Youth

 2. Play in the Girls Club Programme

 3. Play in the Girls Development Programme (Subject to the number of players)

 4. We’re even open to hybrid models whereby girls play in the mixed grade but train one day a week with a girls team.

We simply want to see more girls playing football and enjoying it.

Registrations for Winter Season Football have closed.
Having said that, there MAY be some spots left on some teams.
So if you are interested in playing, please contact our Director of Football – Tsetso – on 021 202 1082 or email dof@fctwenty11.co.nz.

2024 WINTER SEASON

Please read all the information below before registering your child.

The Winter Season starts Saturday 27th April and finishes 14th September.

Players are placed into teams and play against other clubs in the Mainland Football competition.

FC Twenty 11 provides two different pathways for our members:

Club Programme: This programme is aimed at children who wish to play for FUN with friends and/or wish to train once a week in addition to the Saturday game day.

Development Programme: Players will also have an opportunity to join our Girls Development Programme. This programme provides for those who are seeking extra challenges.  The Girls Development Programme players have the opportunity to unlock their higher potential as they advance through the grades towards Womens Football selection and give them the chance to play against the best teams in Christchurch.  For more information on our new Girls Development Programme please click here.

Club Programme

The Club Programme is aimed at players who wish to play with their friends and enjoy the social aspects of the game. In this programme our players train once a week and have a game day on a Saturday morning.

Our coaching staff will make selections based on the players previous experience and their performance at pre-season open/training sessions.  Once players are allocated a team, a volunteer coach may be required from amongst the players’ parents.

Players may request to play in the same team with their friends.  Where we can accommodate this, we will.

Coaching or Managing a Team

The teams in the Club Programme will be led by volunteer coaches, managers, and referees – typically from amongst the players’ parents/caregivers.

FC Twenty 11 has been going through a sustained period of growth over the last few years. The biggest strain that this puts on us is in the area of finding enough volunteer coaches and/or managers.

Some of our previous coaches/managers were parents who had never have played football before!

To support these dedicated volunteers we run in-house training, and our Director of Football, Tsetso, is available to support coaches and provide resources as requested.

If you are interested, we would even support you through the NZF Youth Level 1 Coaching and Community Referee Courses.

If you are a parent or past player who has flirted with the idea of coaching or managing a team – please give it a try!  It is a truly rewarding experience.
