The inaugural Tariq Omar Memorial Cup, held on Sunday 3rd November, was an amazing day to celebrate Tariq, his love of football, his involvement as a volunteer and show support for the Christchurch Mosque Families affected earlier this year. We would like to extend a warm thank-you to the Omar family for allowing us to celebrate Tariq in this manner.
The day commenced with a speech by a young gentleman, who coached alongside Tariq, followed by a minutes silence. Thereafter, the games commenced in the blistering heat. The games were well fought with the competitive grade final being decided by penalty shoot-out. Congratulations to the BBFJ team!!
A special thanks to all the Mainland Referees for facilitating the games, Nora’s Kitchen cart and PlungeCafe for kindly supporting this event. We look forward to seeing you all next year.
